      Dr Syed Aziz Pasha, founder and Secretary General of the oldest British Muslim federal body in the UK, the Union of Muslim Organisations (UMO), passed away on November 23 after a long illness.

      Dr Pasha, 81, was one of the most respected Muslims leaders in the UK.


      Born in Madras, South India, in 1930, he graduated from Madras University in 1950. He went to the US in 1965, first as a student, helping to found the Muslim Student Association. He then pursued a promising career as an international legal consultant to the UN Indian delegation in New York.
